Sometimes I’ll get lyrics or song titles in my head for no apparent reason. When I came home last night, it was “I remember nothing,” the title of the last song on Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division. I saw today that Ian Curtis has been gone for 30 years now.

What has always been remarkable to me was how no one took his lyrics seriously; band members, friends alike thought he wrote them out of empathy, for others.

“I got the spirit, lose the feeling, let it out somehow”
